HanKun law firm: nearly half of private equity funds will invest in VC stage in 2020

Recently, HanKun law firm released the 2020 fund raising project data analysis report, which comes from the projects participated by HanKun law firm in 2020 and the past few years. The report shows that in 2020, more than 50% of private equity funds focused on biomedicine, intelligent hardware (artificial intelligence, AR) and TMT (technology, media and communication).
At the same time, the report also mentioned that from the perspective of fund types, blind pool equity funds are still the main force, accounting for nearly 70% of the market, and the market share of special funds is about 20%. Compared with 2019, the annual proportion of special funds in 2020 has increased by 6%. The report believes that the epidemic has led to fund-raising difficulties, so that more managers choose to invest in high-quality projects by launching special funds.
From the investment stage, the report shows that in 2020, the funds investing in VC stage accounted for nearly half of all private equity funds, and the funds investing in PE and pre IPO stage amounted to 15%. In addition, in 2020, about 20% of the funds are not phased, which is lower than 35% in 2019.
