Tesla Shanghai plant is expected to produce 300000 Q3 vehicles in 9 months, and the delivery volume may reach a new high


Tencent technology news on September 26, according to two sources, despite the global semiconductor supply shortage, the car production of Tesla Shanghai factory in the first nine months of this year is expected to reach 300000, and there will be a delivery peak at the end of the third quarter.
Shanghai factory produces electric car model 3 and electric SUV model y for domestic and foreign markets including Germany and Japan. In the first eight months of this year, the factory shipped about 240000 cars, many of which were used for export. Tesla has not announced production details.
Sources said that Tesla’s Shanghai plant can now produce 1600 model y per day, a significant increase over last month. In August this year, the Shanghai factory produced 1000 model y per day, officially exceeding the output of 800 model 3 per day.
It was previously reported that the cars produced by Tesla’s Shanghai plant in September may be sold in the domestic market. However, as Tesla’s main export center, the Shanghai plant focused on exporting cars to Europe at the beginning of the third quarter. In August, the sales of Tesla Model y in Europe officially kicked off.
In August, Tesla China sold about 44264 cars, up 34% month on month. Among them, 31379 cars were exported and 12885 were sold in China, compared with 8621 in July. In August this year, Tesla’s Shanghai plant is expected to produce 450000 vehicles this year, including 66100 export vehicles.
Tesla’s Shanghai plant contributes greatly to the company’s quarterly production and delivery. Tesla produced a total of 180338 vehicles in the first quarter of this year, although the model s and model x production lines were closed to prepare for model s playd and updated long-range models. Tesla delivered a total of 184800 vehicles in the first quarter of 2021.
Tesla showed significant improvement in the second quarter, producing a total of 206421 vehicles and delivering 201250 vehicles. So far, Tesla has delivered 386050 vehicles this year and is expected to set another delivery record in the third quarter.
In 2020, the electric vehicle manufacturer delivered 499550 vehicles throughout the year, almost achieving the target of 500000 vehicles. 2021 seems to be a year when Tesla officially approaches the delivery of 1 million vehicles, which is an important milestone for Tesla.
