Apple agrees that some apps guide users to register on their websites, bypassing Apple’s commission

Tencent technology news according to foreign media reports, apple said on Wednesday that it would allow some applications to provide links to its website to prompt users to sign up for a subscription directly, instead of subscribing through apple and paying a commission.
Apple previously banned application developers from guiding users to register and subscribe through their websites, such as spotify or Netflix. Instead, developers are directed to Apple’s own payment system and charge 15% to 30% of total sales.
This rule does not apply to all transactions through the app store. Game oriented in app purchases still need to use Apple’s payment system. However, the so-called “reading applications” linked to content subscription can now directly provide subscription services without subscription through apple.
This problem is one of the main problems complained by developers. They say Apple’s app store has anti competitive behavior. The developers of these complaints include spotify, which is one of the reasons why the EU decided to accuse apple of violating competition rules.
Apple said the decision was made as part of a settlement agreement with the Japan Fair Trade Commission, but it would implement the new rule globally´╝ł Tencent Technology (reviser / Lexue)
