Samsung released two new folding screen mobile phones: it supports waterproof design for the first time and adds an off screen lens

On August 11, Beijing time, Samsung Electronics held an online press conference and officially released a new generation of folding screen smartphones Galaxy Z fold3 5g and Galaxy Z flip3 5g. Interestingly, in order to maintain the same product family code as fold, flip this year directly skipped flip2 and named flip3.
Compared with the previous generation of Z flip, the Z flip3 5g released this time has made great improvements in the product design. In addition to maintaining the previous design form of vertical folding, there have been changes in color matching, outer screen, middle frame and other links to varying degrees.
The Z flip3 5g of this generation adopts the appearance of two-color splicing. The external screen and lens are black, and the body has gold, green, purple and black. The external screen size of the fuselage has been expanded from 1.1 inches of the previous generation to 1.9 inches. Now the Z flip3 5g can display four lines of prompt information at the same time.
After the inner screen is expanded, like the previous generation, it is still a 6.7-inch folding screen. Samsung claims to adopt the second generation of dynamic AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2640×1080 pixels and 425 PPI. This year, Z flip3 5g joined the design of dual stereo speakers to support Dolby panoramic sound, which solved the problem of poor sound quality of single speakers criticized last year.
Due to the thickness and overall design of the fuselage, Z flip3 5g still adopts the side fingerprint power button, internal hole digging screen, 10 megapixel front lens, rear dual 12 megapixel main camera + wide-angle combination, 3300 MAH battery and single SIM card slot design, which are not significantly different from Z flip last year.
If more changes in Z flip3 5g come from appearance and audio-visual performance, fold3 5g, which is more flagship, has more changes internally.
This generation of Galaxy Z fold3 5g maintains the same left-right opening and closing design as last year’s Z fold2. The size of the external screen is still 6.2 inches, but the overall display effect is better than last year because the second generation of dynamic AMOLED screen is replaced. The new machine has three colors: black, green and silver.
After unfolding the mobile phone, the interior is still a 7.6-inch 2208×1768 pixel screen. One of the biggest changes is that Samsung brought an off-screen lens this time. Therefore, after opening and closing the interior, the screen is complete without holes. The front under screen lens has 4 million pixels and an aperture of f1.8.
In addition to this lens, Z fold3 has a 32 million pixel lens module on the back of the fuselage, including the main lens, telephoto and wide-angle. This year’s telephoto has added 2x equivalent optical zoom and OIS anti shake. The front outer screen adopts hole digging design and has a 10 million pixel front lens.
Due to the use of the new process middle frame material, this generation of Z fold3 has reduced the body weight to 271g, which has reached a more reasonable weight range for a mobile phone with a 7.6-inch folding screen. At the same time, this generation of Z fold3 has finally realized the function of dual card and dual standby.
This year, Z fold3 5g officially replaced the unpublished Note21 and became the protagonist of Samsung’s August press conference. Of course, Samsung did not forget s pen. This mobile phone supports s pen. After the internal screen is expanded, you can use a stylus to control the screen and write. To this end, Samsung also launched two new s pens, including the s pen exclusive to Z fold3 and the s pen Pro supporting all Samsung handwriting devices.
In addition to their respective changes, Galaxy Z fold3 5g and Galaxy Z flip3 5g also have some common changes.
The first is the core processor. This time, both Samsung folding screen phones are equipped with Qualcomm snapdragon 888 processor. Z flip3 has a memory combination of 8 + 128 / 256gb, and Z fold3 has a memory combination of 12 + 256 / 512gb.
In addition, both mobile phones have achieved ipx8 level waterproof performance, which is also the world’s first folding screen device to support waterproof protection. Samsung also replaced the middle frame materials of the two mobile phones and adopted a new “armored aluminum” material. Samsung said that this new material added several metal elements to the aluminum material in order to make it more durable.
Finally, the price. The prices of Z fold3 and Z flip3 in the United States are $1799.99 and $999.99 respectively. The former is consistent with fold2 last year, and flip3 is $200 lower than that of last year’s generation. The pricing of the domestic version has not been released yet. Samsung is expected to hold a domestic press conference in late August, when the licensed price will be announced.
In addition to the two mobile phones, Samsung also brought new smart watches and TWS headphones.
Watch 4 on the left and watch 4 Classic on the right
Samsung released two smart watches, Galaxy watch 4 and Galaxy watch 4 classic, with a circular dial, which uses the new wear OS operating system jointly developed by Google and Samsung at the I / O conference.
The biggest difference between the two watches comes from the dial. The watch 4 uses a standard round dial, while classic adds Samsung’s iconic rotatable bezel design. The watch 4 is available in 40mm and 44mm versions, while the watch 4 classi is available in 42mm and 46mm versions. However, the two series have the same screen size and resolution, and users can choose the 1.2-inch 396 x 396 pixel display of the smaller body or the 1.4-inch 450 x 450 pixel display of the larger body.

In the core hardware part, both watches use the exynos w920 processor of Samsung 5nm process, with 1.5GB memory and 16GB storage space. The watch has a new one UI watch, which can realize the linkage with the one UI on the smartphone.
The price of watch 4 Classic Bluetooth model is $349 and LTE model is $399, while the price of watch 4 is $249 and LTE is $299, which is slightly lower. Both can be booked today and shipped on August 27.
In addition to the watch, Samsung also brought the TWS headset Galaxy buses 2. Like the previously released buses pro, it adopts a square design shell to support active noise reduction.
Samsung said that the Budd 2 is the smallest TWS headset they have ever designed. The single ear has dual band speakers and supports active noise reduction. In terms of battery life, charging the headset once can provide a battery life of 5 hours. If combined with the charging box, this time can be extended to 20 hours. Turning off active noise reduction can improve the endurance to 7.5 hours and 29 hours, and it supports wireless charging.
Galaxy buses 2, available in four colors including dark gray, white, purple and green, costs $149.99 and will be available on August 27.
