Twitter releases its first subscription service twitter blue revocable tweets

Tencent technology news on June 4, US local time on Thursday, twitter announced the official launch of its first ever subscription service twitter blue, first launched in Australia and Canada. The subscription service will allow Twitter users to use advanced features, including tools for organizing bookmarks, reading tweets in a neat format, and withdrawing tweets. The move could help twitter diversify its sources of revenue.
Twitter said it will first launch twitter blue in selected markets in Canada and Australia to help it determine whether the existing feature set can meet the needs of those who want to customize the twitter experience more, and encourage discussions around other features that Twitter should give priority to, which should be added in future iterations of twitter blue.
“We will continue to look at different levels and pricing opportunities, as we will continue to understand what works and what doesn’t,” a twitter spokesman said In Canada and Australia, the subscription fee for twitter blue is C $3.49 and a $4.49 in local currency, respectively.
The new bookmark folders feature is designed to help Twitter users organize their saved content, which is collected through Twitter’s bookmarking feature. Twitter’s bookmarks, launched in early 2018, provide users with a private way to save tweets for future reference. It’s useful for those who want to read long content later, or for those who want to save tweets without reminding others.
The bookmark folder function allows users to create subfolders for their bookmarks and encode them in different colors, so that they can easily see them at a glance. There is a “Add Bookmark” button on this screen. Users can add tweets directly from the bookmarks section to their favorites.
Meanwhile, the new “reader mode” feature may not be exactly what Twitter users expect. Before the launch of twitter blue, twitter acquired scroll, a distraction free reading service, to clean up news articles by deleting ads and other cluttered content for a better reading experience. Tony Haile, chief executive of scroll, later tweeted that the features of the product would be integrated into Twitter’s subscription service “later this year.”.
But twitter claims that the “reader model” has nothing to do with any of the company’s recent acquisitions, including scroll, and is built solely to serve twitter blue. For now at least, reader mode focuses on making it easier for longer twitter threads to read. Basically, this is an alternative to the thread reader app, a third-party application.
When you enter the tweet details view, twitter blue subscribers will see a button that changes the screen to show long text. The user can exit “reader mode” and view the thread as usual. As for scroll, twitter said that the better reading experience it brings to the platform will be integrated into twitter blue later.
Finally, there is twitter Blue’s flagship feature, undo tweet. Although it is not the Edit button users really want, it can quickly “cancel sending” when they find typing errors or make other mistakes (such as forgetting to label someone). Other features include customizable application icons on the device’s home screen, color themes for twitter applications, and access to dedicated subscription customer support.
Twitter said users could set a timer of up to 30 seconds to “withdraw” tweets or replies posted within that time frame. Prior to twitter Blue’s launch, the company hinted that the “withdraw” option might satisfy users’ needs for edit buttons. Twitter has been concerned about allowing users to correct their tweet settings at any time, which could lead to malicious activity, such as changing the tweet later to make it have a different meaning. Undo tweet will help solve many problems, especially for the super users who tweet frequently.
Twitter stressed today that the launch of twitter blue does not mean any change to the free version of twitter. Subscription will continue to focus on adding enhancements and other complementary features to Twitter’s free level. Over time, it may include more options.
However, twitter did not disclose when twitter blue would enter the US or other markets. Twitter first launched fleets in the spring of 2020, but it didn’t reach all users around the world until November of that year. Asked if twitter blue would launch in a similar way, twitter declined to comment.
Offering paid subscription services is a major change in Twitter’s business model that has been under consideration for some time. Previously, the company relied mainly on advertising for its revenue, but fierce competition from Facebook and snapchat advertising businesses, as well as pressure from activist investors, prompted it to explore new revenue sources. Twitter’s first quarter results showed that advertising accounted for more than 86% of its revenue.
As Twitter has been trying to expand its user base for years, it has recently begun to seek to make more money from its loyal users. The plans will include tools for creators, including the upcoming super follow subscription and twitter blue.

Twitter told investors earlier this year that it plans to at least double its total annual revenue by 2023, from $3.7 billion in 2020 to $7.5 billion or more, thanks in part to new initiatives, including subscriptions.
