Tencent technology news on February 23, Chen Lifang, senior vice president and director of Huawei, recently delivered a keynote speech entitled “believe in the power of technology”. She said that science and technology is the engine to promote human progress, and called on everyone and every enterprise to start bit by bit to promote the realization of the United Nations goal of sustainable development and build a green, innovative and inclusive world. The full text of her speech is as follows:
Chen Lifang said that science and technology is a crucial factor in promoting 17 items of the UN’s “sustainable development” goals. To give full play to the driving force of technology for sustainable development, we need to do two things
First, we should reach a “real consensus” that science and technology is the engine of human progress, and we should fully believe and play the role of technology in promoting society.
Chen Lifang said that today, science and technology have been painted with too many emotional and political colors, and even demonized. Some people will no longer believe in the power of science and technology because of fear and distrust, and even use various forces and means to stop the development of science and technology.
Second, we should take resolute actions to make science and technology truly effective and create greater value.
Chen Lifang takes Huawei’s intelligent photovoltaic solution as an example: the solution is widely used in more than 60 countries, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 148 million tons, which is equivalent to planting more than 200 million trees. Take Ethiopia as an example, Huawei helps customers deploy 400 + solar energy stations, reducing carbon emissions by 2850 tons every year. In China’s Ningxia and Shandong, the world’s largest single “nongguang” and “Yuguang” complementary power stations have become new highlights of local environmental protection industry.
