Tesla responded to product quality problems and called for the establishment of a unified after-sales service standard for new energy vehicles

In response to the recent queries raised by we media on Tesla’s product quality and parts traceability management, on December 31, Tesla China responded to the first financial reporter that Tesla carried out manufacturing and consistency management in strict accordance with relevant laws and regulations, and there was no so-called phenomenon of “reducing quality for production”. On December 28, Tesla filed a lawsuit against relevant we media.
“Tesla Shanghai Super factory attaches great importance to the quality and safety of its products. At the beginning of its design, it was built in accordance with the requirements of Tesla’s most advanced factory in the world,” Tesla told CNFC. Tesla Shanghai Super factory establishes and implements quality management in accordance with the requirements of ISO / IATF quality system, and regulates product standards, production consistency control, key assembly, parts, key manufacturing and assembly processes through the preparation and implementation of production consistency management procedure and production consistency assurance plan. ”
Tesla also said that its Shanghai Super factory is equipped with highly automated and electronic manufacturing management system MOS, which can accurately trace the manufacturer, part number, batch and other information of parts through vehicle VIN number. “The key process parameters and quality control results in the production process can be found in the MOS system, which can support the traceability requirements of the whole product life cycle, and the data can be saved for more than 10 years.” Tesla told the first financial reporter.
In addition, Tesla also responded to safety assurance issues such as automatic production and product recall, saying that the automation rate of Tesla Shanghai Super factory in the four major processes of vehicle production is at least more than 90%, and the production line workers only undertake a small amount of simple assembly, loading and unloading, quality inspection and other work. Up to now, Tesla has recalled 9 vehicles in China in accordance with the relevant provisions of the regulations on the administration of defective automobile product recall and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the administration of defective automobile product recall.
In response to Tesla’s response, lawyers who have represented similar disputes between auto companies and we media believe that it is very common for large enterprises to face supervision from all parties while making huge profits, and enterprises should respond immediately, objectively and pertinently. “As a representative of the world’s leading high-tech enterprises, we do not question Tesla’s ability, but in the practical process, how to achieve what it promised is still a matter of further explanation.” Lawyer Lin Wei, managing partner of dawao law firm, told China first finance reporter.
