App Gallery has 33 million users in Europe
Walter Gee, President of Huawei consumer business group in Europe, once again mentioned Huawei’s “1 + 8 + n” full scenario strategy in his speech. Huawei’s mobile ecosystem is a key part of this strategy, he said.
It is said that Huawei currently has more than 800 partners and more than 100 product categories. Over the past decade, Huawei has invested more than $82 billion in R & D, according to Walter gee. From 2018, Huawei plans to increase additional R & D investment of $100 billion in the next five years.
App gallery is an alternative app platform for Google play, with 480 million users per month worldwide, of which 33 million are in Europe. Huawei is no longer able to access Google services on its latest smartphones, including the play store, due to restrictions from the U.S. Department of Commerce. In addition to claiming that it is the third largest app store, the number of registered developers of Huawei has reached 1.6 million, an increase of 76% over the first half of last year, and more than 5000 apps are launched every month.
Huawei created 223000 jobs in the European market in 2019
Europe will be an important market for Huawei in the next decade. Huawei created 223000 jobs in the European market in 2019 and currently has 8500 workers in 11 European countries. Huawei has two headquarters in Europe, namely Poland and Germany. Since 2010, Huawei has invested more than $1 billion in innovation research projects in Europe, and has reached cooperation with more than 100 research institutions and universities in computer and other fields.
Huawei also plans to open more offline stores in Europe, including eight flagship stores and 42 experience stores.
During the event, Huawei also demonstrated storysign, an AI based application that translates children’s books into sign language. It was launched last year and is now available for free on Android and IOS.
In this keynote speech, Huawei did not release a new generation of Kirin chips or other new products as usual. According to the rules of previous years, Huawei usually launches Kirin chips at IFA and releases its flagship mate series at the end of September. It seems that the Huawei Developer Conference on September 10 will be the highlight.
