Now Porsche will make history again: the 70-year-old car company has brought its first pure electric vehicle, Taycan.
Classic Porsche design with electric drive
From the appearance, you can see that Taycan is a Porsche: the whole body uses a lot of lines, the front of the two front wheels protrudes high, and the headlights are placed in it; the sliding back design extends from the roof to the parking space, and the arc rear of the car is embedded with striking through taillights and Porsche signs.
In addition to the classic elements since 911, Taycan also has a unique design as an electric vehicle. The 2*2 matrix headlights and color bump bar hubs in Mission E concept cars have also been successfully mass-produced. They all officially appeared on Taycan, which makes the model different from classical Porsche.

Porsche’s products are not only attractive, but also often have good performance performance. There is no exception to Taycan’s conversion from internal combustion engine to electric drive. According to official data, the power of Taycan Turbo system is 460 kW (625 horsepower), supercharged power 500 kW (680 horsepower), 850 Nm torque, 2305 kg weight and extreme speed 260 km/h. The performance-enhanced Taycan Turbo S is 1050 Nm torque and 560 kW (761 hp) supercharged power.

Pricing is expensive, but performance is not high enough
To put it this way, Taycan has done what electric cars have never done before. Is it a worthy luxury electric sports car? I don’t think so. It’s not controversial as a luxury sports car, but as an electric car or a new energy car, there are still many regrets.
To mention the electric vehicle, the key word of intellectualization is indispensable. Higher-level automatic driving is cool, but the capabilities of manufacturers vary.

The console has two upper and lower screens, the 10.9-inch screen similar to the traditional one, which can turn on navigation, play music or make phone calls. In addition to controlling the vehicle, other functions are exactly the same as the central control. There is no video playback or other multimedia entertainment. Auto-driving hasn’t been the highlight of Taycan either, and Porsche admits that the car’s auto-driving capability is at most Level 2. Porsche has to figure out what to do with the “Input Destination, Full Auto Drive” level already shown in Standard Sla Autopiolt 3.0. At least Taycan owners need to figure out how to drive.
Intelligent part does not play its advantage as an electric vehicle, even if, at the Taycan’s core selling point, it seems that there are few places to compete with rivals. In terms of location and price, Taycan’s actual parameters for the Standard Sla Model S are not much better than the high-performance version of Model 3, which costs less than a third of the price.
Model 3 has a high performance version lasting 595 km, a maximum speed of 261 km/h, a zero acceleration of 3.4 seconds, and a selling price of 500,000 RMB; Taycan Turbo has a range of 465 km (NEDC), a maximum speed of 260 km/h, a zero acceleration of 3.2 seconds and a selling price of 1.5 million RMB.

Taycan’s reliability and durability have been verified in this race, as long as it is not a endurance race, it can compete with the fuel car. Porsche has never lost its dignity in making sports cars.

As far as the popularity of electric vehicles is concerned, the existence of Taycan is of little significance, not only expensive, but also poor performance. But as a Porsche, it is excellent. Taycan’s positioning has been an electric sports car from the beginning. The original experience of Porsche sports car is the soul. Electricity is just the way to drive it.
